Exciting Announcement based on Northeast District Leader collaboration with Governor Newsom

The Northeast District has worked collaboratively with the CPTA for recognition from the Governor’s Office regarding Physical Therapy and APTA Centennial celebration. Our work has had success.

From the Office of the Governors, we have a letter recognizing the 100th anniversary of the American Physical Therapy Association and the 50th anniversary of the California Physical Therapy Association.

This is a great honor. Please see the link, to access this letter.

Last minute funding available for CPTA Student Conclave

Hello all,

District leaders have decided to offer a last minute sponsorship opportunity to students from NED.

If you are a current SPT or SPTA student, and you are interested in attending Student Conclave this weekend, please email northeastdistrictexeccommittee@gmail.com with your Name, Program, and APTA Membership status.

We have a limited number of scholarships available and will prioritize the first student from each program who emails, followed by APTA members, followed by other applicants.

Please note, that the group of students receiving this sponsorship will be asked to participate in a short survey and Zoom discussion after the event to be recorded and posted on the District’s facebook page and website.

Connecting Members and Non-Members to Vaccine Access

It has been a long time since Northeast District Leaders have had the bandwidth to update the website. Rest assured that we have continued to meet monthly and discuss opportunities to best support our members and the profession.

Yesterday, an opportunity too important to pass up arose. Two counties (Butte and Sacramento) have reached out to need for lists of individual practitioners and practices seeking access to COVID19 vaccination as part of Tier 1a.

While many Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants have accessed vaccination via large employers, independent and smaller practices have been left waiting and wondering about next steps. Well apparently, contacting professional organizations for contact information is part of at least some County rollout strategies.

If you would like your information included, please email us at northeastdistrictexecutivecommittee@gmail.com with you practice name/contact info, number of patient facing staff, and the county in which your practice is based and I will have this information available if/when your county reaches out.

For counties that are in touch with us already, I will send our contact person updates as close to daily as possible as we build out our lists. (Your information will not be used by us for any other purpose without your express permission.)

Please reach out whether you are a member or prospective member and please forward widely within your Physical Therapy communities.

With appreciation and enthusiasm,

Ben, your NED Chair

PTDOS

Your Northeast District is proud to announce that some of its members are participating in Physical Therapy Day of Service [PTDOS] 2020. The project planned is to make greeting cards for socially isolated individuals to foster a sense of community and togetherness. The goal is to create 600 personalized cards to be delivered to individuals in local SNFs.

The official date of PTDOS is Saturday, October 10th. There are many virtual and socially distanced service project ideas located on the PTDOS website. The Northeast District is excited to hear from its members on all the other service projects accomplished.
