Bio:
Dr. Madison Rhodes, PT, DPT has served on the Ethics and Professionalism committee for the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) since 2022. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Hampton University and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Loma Linda University. Dr. Rhodes has extensive experience across various medical settings, including Early Intervention (0 months – 36 months), School-Based Physical Therapy (ages 3 – 21), Outpatient Pediatrics (ages 0-17), Skilled Nursing Facilities and Hospital settings (all ages).
Detailed course description:
This interactive course will put attendees' ethical decision-making skills to the test by examining the relationships and differences between laws, morals, and ethics within the realm of physical therapy. Participants will work in small groups to analyze two case studies, discussing the conflicts and resolutions of the parties involved. Additionally, they will explore how the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics for Physical Therapists and the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Physical Therapist Assistants can be applied. Please ensure you have a functioning video camera and microphone to take part in the course.

· Understand the connections and distinctions among laws, morals, and ethics as they pertain to the field of physical therapy.
· Utilize the APTA Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct along with other ethical principles when addressing ethical dilemmas in physical therapy practice.
· Develop an effective response to commonly faced ethical problems in case-based examples
